Ancient stables and a hayloft, restored to their
original splendour with absolute respect for natural materials such as rough
stone and antique wood, tell the story of our family renewed with contemporary
elegance.
The idea of Sandro- the father of the family- was to
transform this ancient family home, dating back to the 17th / 18th century,
into a unique and welcoming guesthouse, which could offer visitors of the Aosta
Valley a refuge, where they can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the
past without sacrificing the comforts of the present.
The skilled
restoration and the use of original materials are at the heart of the design,
which emphasizes appreciation of the land and strengthens the sense of
belonging to the place and the surrounding nature.
La Maison du Sucre, nestled against the mythological
Côte de Gargantua, a moraine and protected nature reserve in the municipality
of Gressan, extends over multiple levels with spacious interiors and a
beautiful garden adorned with roses and rosemary. It features six
comfortable rooms, carefully furnished to offer guests an elegant and
privileged atmosphere.
The reception, breakfast room, and wellness area are
located in the basement, distinguished by red brick vaults and ancient stone
walls.
Innovative forms coexist with deliberately preserved
elements making this place refined and authentic. Our family oversaw
the entire restoration with extreme meticulousness, restoring the building to
its former splendour without altering its essence: an attention to detail that,
in its simplicity, expresses elegance and warmth.
La Maison du Sucre, as the Aostan people
poetically call it, was born as a "Maison d’accueil," an antique
embrace where the sacred and the profane hold hands.
In that place suspended in time, where fragility found
shelter, single mothers, girls separated from their families due to poverty as
well as young people with physical disabilities were truly welcomed: a refuge,
a promise of protection and dignity.
With the echo of a silently whispering past, the idea
of naming our new B&B "La Maison du Sucre" was born. A refuge, a
women's home, a place of welcoming and refined charm, where we can listen to
each other and be immersed in a new and delicate dimension.
Everything is based on an ancestral balance between
nature, the Alpine territory, and innovation, where a woman, like a mountain,
possesses a predominant and surprising strength. For this reason,
each room bears the name of a woman, like a sweet signature that tells a story
of grace and resilience.
Hidden within the walls of an old stone stable, the Maison du Sucre wellness centre is a place suspended in time, where romance, silence and well-being blend into a unique experience.
